US healthcare system

1/ Good point by Minko Cechev, a web developer at google.
Next question: how much are you payed by the hour Minko? Are you easily available for web dev appointments? This simple question boils down the difference between EU & US capitalism.

2/ US has the largest number of well-payed general practitioners in the world
= attracts the best minds from the rest of the planet
= US medical textbooks become the global standard (translated in other languages) Similarly, google & FB are backbones of computer science.

3/ The US healthcare system is an integrated part of “the winner takes it all” global capitalism. US med schools attract the best minds in the world. This doesn’t solve the internal healthcare problem. It solves the “world domination” problem.

4/ I’m not advocating for free market healthcare. In fact, it’s inhumane & unsustainable. Just saying we should carefully analyse the parameters of every game. When a country becomes “second” in any domain, it loses in a “winner takes it all” game.

5/ Show me the country that has the *largest number* of imported well payed general practitioners. And I’ll show you students around the world who burn the midnight oil to fulfil “the dream” (reading US textbooks, theories & practices). You can take the USMLE exam… in India.

6/ Guns is not the only issue US culture can’t handle anymore. Just take a look at new movies, Netflix series & songs. By eliminating conservative voices (liberal & neoliberal final solution) they created a monoculture: sexualised, dark, irrational.
In one word: unsustainable.

Church attendance and mortality

Ignorance & pseudoscience of “Social Science” in one graph. Real science has control groups & compares attendance / non-attendance within each group. With controlled research (symmetric) we find STRONG ASSOCIATION between attendance at religious services & DECREASED mortality.

There are countless studies. It takes time to rule out the BS (which is common nowadays) and find keywords e.g.: intrinsic religiosity vs. extrinsic religiosity, adaptive vs. maladaptive perfectionism, quality of life etc. In physiology I know spirituality correlates w/ oxytocin.

Hubris indeed. The lack of respect & understanding by modern academics is transformed into pseudoscience. That’s the end-product of hubris: ἄτην (blindness)

The most recent study I found in Internal Medicine. If you take just church attendance it may happen that unhealthy people go more often at church. How they controlled for this? They took 74 534 women WITHOUT serious disease and followed them for 20 years.

So in this study they didn’t took people who go to the church and those who don’t. This is naive. They took a group (of healthy people) and controlled mortality with different variables WITHIN this group. They examined mortality symmetrically for each variable.

In ANY health issue there is no metric for good health

Lets review the basics. In ANY health issue there is no metric for good health, only for bad health. What does this mean? It means that measuring effects of “lower IQ” doesn’t allow us to make scientific claims for “higher IQ”. Get it?

We can perform the same “magic trick” with blood pressure, in 3 categories low/medium/high & similar diagrams saying “high blood pressure” is linked to psychopathy. Oh my gosh! Good blood pressure is the secret of escaping psychopathy! Right? The same with glucose, IQ etc.

And guess what! We can also link blood pressure (or any other low health metric) with car accidents and other misfortunes. We can perform the same magic trick the astrologers of psychology just did with IQ & accidents.

The problem with social scientists is they build mono-parametric ideologies, that they consider “science”, avoiding to deal with the complex reality of health and success. Ironically, today the field attracting the lower IQ (social sciences & psychology) is fixated with IQ.
