Decentralisation (localism) VS. Centralisation

I hate to brake the news to my twitter friends, and it feels like funeral news, but localism & decentralisation is NOT the answer. I can’t find a single case where a centralised cultural/political/econ. crisis resolved this way.

Cleisthenes CENTRALISED 10 Tribes of Athens and … boom! Athenian democracy!
Rome CENTRALISED the power of 35 tribes… and boom! Roman Republic!
13 US colonies CENTRALISED their power into a single motto (“no taxation without representation”)…. a Confederation and … boom! American Revolution!

Pre-revolutionary France was marked by the attempts of the monarchy to impose central control. They couldn’t achieve it. It was AFTER the French Revolution & the Declaration of Human Rights (1789) that CENTRAL power was established to resolve social & economic disparities.

We could go on and on with how Britain became a UNITED Kingdom and how better UNIONS (not better devisions) were always the natural solution to hard social issues.

Promoting abstract models of better borders, localism & decentralisation as the solution for modern evils is like being physicist and vouching against gravity. It’s not that it will not happen, it’s that it can’t happen.

This question roots back to the most ancient text of western civilisation: Iliad of Homer. It’s a text that envisioned, for the first time, the CENTRALISATION of Greek city-states as the SOLUTION to an EXISTENTIAL THREAT.

This “Homeric Vision” is exactly what Alexander the Great enforced, not hiding his Homeric poetic inspiration. The Homeric strategy of CENTRALISATION of greek city-states was enough to establish the dominance of the western culture vs. the east for the first time.

For those who don’t get it, the ‘western culture’ was dominated by one characteristic: THE REFUSAL TO BOW TO DESPOTS. When Alexander demanded from his soldiers to bow, for the first time, he was heavily criticised by greek historians & then mysteriously found dead.

After systemic corruption & roman dehumanisation, Christianity appeared, and colourfully described CENTRALISATION of Rome as the evil Antichrist, posing one solution: the CENTRALISATION around the body (ecclesia) of Christ, the saviour.

Today we face the following challenge:
– Evil cartel(s) consolidated central role in politics & economy. e.g. European parliaments collectively apply the same central EU directives.
– A bunch of illiterates consolidated power in higher academic institutions

DECENTRALISATION = divide & conquer
CENTRALISATION = the ancient fight against [centralised] good vs. [centralised] evil. SOLUTION = (the last 2000 years)
UNION around true humanism: virtues of Christ & vision of Homer. Balance btwn individual and common good.

Why Europe re-enters the Middle Ages

The strongest signs that western Europe re-enters the Middle Ages:

1. #scientism – the critics of scientific orthodoxy live on the fringe
2. #privilegism – the ruling elite exchanges privileges with loyalty e.g. access to institutions by belonging to a privileged & loyal group
3. Ignorance of the Classics: Petrarch (14th C.) coined the term Dark Ages referencing to the “intellectuals” who remained ignorant on the classics. After the Dark Ages it’s the 1st time west. academics & politicians embarrass themselves w/ profound ignorance on basic history.

I found this old book from a flee market in Paris. Students used to learn Homer as the King of “Les Humanités”. Today Homer is dead. Again. Second time in western history.

The second image is from the “Who Killed Homer?: The Demise of Classical Education and the Recovery of Greek Wisdom” by Victor Davis Hanson.
You can find a sample of his lectures here, e.g. on the “asymmetry that is uniquely western”.

Although I respect Prof Hanson, he didn’t manage to fully cure himself from the disease he fluently diagnosed e.g. he claims “the west was tolerant” pointing to religious beliefs like the Stoics or the Pythagoreans. Then who burned down Pythagoras’ school? Who killed Socrates?

The secret of the west was NOT [naive] tolerance. It was…
the habit of negotiating instead of just dominating or submitting
the habit of attributing honour to the enlightened & heroic figures
the habit of respecting the timeless truths as greater than ephemeral desires

And last but not least, the habit of repenting. The west has expressed remorse on wrongdoing multiple times. The greeks killed Socrates. They repented. They (probably) killed Pythagoras. They repented.
For comparison: Talmud is quite proud (until today) for the death of Jesus.

Against Social Dominance Orientation

Thread Friends, your attention please. What both Radical Left and the Intellectual Dark Web (e.g. @jordanbpeterson ) have in common ? The pseudoscience of Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) theories.

The SDO are psychological tests including questions like: “Some groups of people are inferior to other groups?” “Groups at the bottom should have to stay in their place?” Obviously high scores in SDO tests shows a positive relationship with authoritarian and racist beliefs

They’ve found that men in average score higher than women in SDOs Well, what does this mean? – More men are “dominant pricks” than women. – Less “dominant pricks” are found in lower levels of society than in the higher. After all being “less successful” is more humbling.

The Critical Theorists, the Marxists and all BS vendors commit the same logical fallacy: lack of symmetry. They study one convenient dimension without studying the OPPOSITE dimension, in parallel. In simple words: they define “masculinity” by being a “prick” but not a “hero”

SYMMETRY: honest research would ask two symmetrical questions: a. do you support strongly the establishment of rigid dominance? b. do you support strongly the break of rigid dominance in society? Now obviously the answer in both (a) and (b) is “mostly men”.

Men created dictatorships and men broke them. Men created pyramids and men broke them. It’s true that “mostly men” are pricks, but “mostly men” worked years and years in the underground for us to enjoy internet and open participation. SYMMETRY reveals the truth.

Now, Jordan Peterson (and the club of powerful men he represents) always talks about “Dominance Hierarchy” as the source of “meaning in life”. Peterson is not naive, but I’m not sure about his hopeless & ignorant followers.

Peterson is fixated on Egyptian history and theology as the… source of western civilisation. Even Jesus & Mary were, according to JP, derived by Egyptian archetypes. Pyramid & one-eye, he says, are among his favourite symbols, as Captain Obvious would have already noticed.

So what’s going on here? What makes the west as west is that the greeks broke the Pyramidal & Babylonian traditions introducing civil culture of honour based on VIRTUE. The greeks introduced the “hierarchy of norms” (legal term) in contrast with “hierarchy of dominance”.

It took centuries for the Greeks with new traditions to break the elitist culture of the past. e.g. Homer presents the one-eye as a symbol of the most uncivilised creatures, the cyclops trying to keep the sheep in the cave. Even Odysseus pretended to be sheep to escape.

The anti-pyramidal teachings of the Old Testament meets the Greeks. The people of Israel become a “nation” only after Moses brought them OUT OF EGYPT. This EXIT marked by the greek ΕΞΟΔΟΣ becoming the title of the 2nd book of the Bible. Genesis and then Exodus!

My friends, as you can see, both the radical left, the right, & pop culture play the same game: re-introduction of new forms of Social Dominance Orientation theories in the hearts of the youth. The new astrologers pretend to be scientists, using rhetorics in staged debates.

So, the media system provides us with two options of Dominance Hierarchy: Extreme Corporatism or Radical Communism ? What do we choose? They mask it as “hierarchy of success” Ex. Pres. of Israel asked Iran to follow his “success” in the region, an argument JP also makes.

The greco-romans created one metric: rule of law. Why? Success is often indistinguishable from corruption. ex. while Israel is presented by JP as an example of “success” (TOP in his HIERARCHY OF DOMINANCE scale) was condemned in 45 resolutions by UN Human Rights Council

Final Points: – western heritage = enlightened + humanistic rule of law for ALL (ΙΣΟΝΟΜΙΑ – ΙΣΟΠΟΛΙΤΕΙΑ) – the point of CORRUPTION is this: abuse your TALENT for DOMINANCE + SUCCESS (e.g. Mafia was successful)
